Competition Details

Teams at Dulwich-Newtown Basketball Club generally play in the City of Sydney Basketball Association competitions.

Competitions run year-round during school term and the year is split into three seasons. These are the dates for 2020 seasons:

  • Season 1 runs 7th February to 16th May.

  • Season 2 runs 22nd May to 29th August.

  • Season 3 runs 4th September to 12th December.

Age Groups

Under 16 and Under 18 Girls play games on Friday night at Alexandria.

Under 16 and Under 18 Boys can play games on either Friday night at Alexandria or Saturday at Marrickville PCYC.

All other juniors play games on Saturdays at Alexandria.

Age groups are determined by the player’s age at the end of the calendar year. This means to play Under 14s, for example, a player must be 13 or less at the end of the current year.

Some of our teams choose to not train, however most have either a 1 hour or 1.5 hour training session once per week.

Possible training venues are Marrickville PCYC, Marrickville High, Dulwich Hill High, Fort St High and Peter Forsyth Auditorium.

There are three main costs involved in playing basketball:

  1. Registration payment goes to Basketball NSW and the City of Sydney Basketball Association. This lasts 12 months and includes insurance coverage. The cost varies depending on the player's age.

  2. Club fees. These amounts vary by age group and the length of training. Invoices are sent during the first week of the season.

  3. Uniform cost.

Active Kids Vouchers

The club is a registered Active Kids provider meaning you can claim a voucher towards the club fee. The Active Kids program provides two $100 vouchers for parents, guardians and carers of school-enrolled children to use towards sport and active recreation costs each year.
