Player Development
Team training vs individual development: what changes?
Understand where team coaching ends and extra individual development begins.
11 Sept 2026

Team training and individual development are complementary, but they solve different basketball problems.
Team training develops the group
DNBC competition teams receive one hour of structured training each week. Players work with the teammates they compete alongside, building communication, team chemistry, offensive and defensive concepts and preparation for upcoming games.
Individual development creates extra repetitions
The Player Development Squad gives motivated players additional time to focus on their own game. Sessions can include shooting, ball handling, finishing, footwork, decision-making, one-on-one play, small-sided games and basketball-specific conditioning.
Why players may benefit from both
A player can understand a team concept but still need more repetitions to execute the required skill consistently. Extra development time helps build those individual tools, while team training shows the player how and when to use them within a group.
Development does not mean elite-only
DNBC's development pathway is intended for committed players who want additional structured training. Players do not need to already be representative athletes to benefit from focused development work.
