ABOUT

Teams at DNBC play in the City of Sydney Basketball Association (CSBA) competitions.

Competitions run year-round coinciding with the school term and the year is split into 3 seasons. These are the dates for 2026 seasons:

SEASON 1

STARTS: Monday 26th January 2026

ENDS: Saturday 16th May 2026

SEASON 2

STARTS: Monday 18th May 2026

ENDS: Saturday 5th September 2026

SEASON 3

STARTS: Monday 7th September 2026

ENDS: Saturday 12th December 2026

HOW TO JOIN OUR TEAM

1. COMPLETE OUR SIGN UP FORM

Season 1: Monday 26th January 2026 until Saturday 16th May 2026

We will contact you shortly before the season starts to let you know your team placement and more specific details. It may be possible to join a team mid-season but it would depend on available places on a team.

All players must purchase a BNSW registration, completing their registration with CSBA prior to participating in their first game.

CSBA COMPETITION BY-LAW: Age groups are determined by the player’s age at the end of the calendar year.

For example, to play Under 14s, a player must be 13 years old or younger at the end of the current year.

DAY AND LOCATION OF EACH COMPETITION

Friday Night

Under 16 and Under 18 Girls play at this time at Alexandria Basketball Stadium.

All Day Saturday

Games start with the Under 10s at 8am and progress through each age group during the day, with the Under 18s playing later in the evening.

Boys Under 16 and Under 18 play games on Saturday afternoons and evenings at any of the following locations: Marrickville PCYC, Alexandria Basketball Stadium, or Perry Park Recreational Centre.

All other juniors play games on Saturdays at Alexandria Basketball Stadium, Perry Park Recreational Centre or Matraville Sports High School.

Every DNBC team is led by a qualified coach who brings years of experience, strong technical expertise, and a genuine passion for developing young athletes.

All teams train once per week, for 1 hour, and we ask that all players bring their own ball and water bottle to training.

To ensure consistency at training, please refer to the guide below to confirm which ball size applies to your age group:

U10s & U12s: Size 5
U14s, U16s & U18s (Girls): Size 6
U16s & U18s (Boys): Size 7

If you already have a ball that differs slightly from the recommended size, it is still acceptable for training purposes.

There are 3 main costs involved in playing basketball:

DNBC Club fees

Our program fees are designed to deliver exceptional value and a professional development experience for every player.

$349 per season (10 rounds, plus semi-finals and finals included)
$389 per season (11 rounds, plus semi-finals and finals included)

Each team trains once per week for 1 hour under the guidance of a qualified DNBC coach — not a volunteer or parent coach. Our coaches bring years of experience, technical expertise, and a genuine passion for helping young athletes grow both on and off the court.

Unlike many community clubs, DNBC provides a structured, coach-led training environment focused on player development, teamwork, and long-term growth, ensuring every player receives the attention and guidance they deserve.

Uniform Cost

A full DNBC uniform set (reversible playing singlet and shorts) costs $95. Uniforms are required for all players and can be reused across seasons. Orders are placed at the start of the season, and are given to players at either training or at the game on the weekend.

BNSW Registration

Playing in the City of Sydney Basketball Association (CSBA) competition, requires your child to be registered with Basketball NSW (BNSW) and CSBA. This this is player insurance and must be kept updated whilst playing in their competitions.
